If you are using your computer frequently, and always installing operating systems, and messing with the system files, you might have experience when your CD/DVD drive can not even read your media. It getting worse when you are using Laptop/Notebook PC. So how you want your PC back alive? Wasting $30/RM50 for a new DVD/CD drive?
Isn't it nicer if you can use your usb mass storage/pendrive/usb external hard disk to boot up your rescue disk/BartPE/WinPE/UltimateBootCD/HirenBootCD or even fresh install your PC with the speed of your USB external hard disk. Or maybe your favorites Linux Live Distros. Booting from a USB Storage can be a very good alternative and helping in most cases.
Here, I will list down all devices/laptops/notebooks/motherboards which support booting from USB based storage (External CD-ROM, External Hard Disk, etc.)
This list is based on my experience in using them and some examples. So. I will update the list.
- Acer Aspire 4715Z (Booting into BackTrack3 Linux from Kingston DataTraveler 1GB, BartPE from Hitachi Deskstar 80GB+USB 2.0 to IDE Bridge Controller)
